The ICRP stand for the International Commission On Radiological Protection. The International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP) is an independent and  non-governmental organization that provides recommendations on the protection of human health and the environment from the harmful effects of ionizing radiation. The organization was established in 1928 and is based in Stockholm, Sweden. It is also called International X-ray and Radium Protection Committee ( IXRPC ).

The ICRP  an independent registration charity. The IRCP established to advanced from the public benefits. The science of radiological protection in particular by providing Recommendations and guidance on all aspects of protection against ionizing radiation.

The International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP) provides a following principles of  recommendations on radiological protection.

A) The principle of justification:- all practices involving ionizing radiation should be justified on the basis of their benefits and the potential risks they pose.

B) The principle of optimization:- the radiation dose to individuals and populations should be kept as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA), taking into account economic and societal factors.

C) The concept of dose limits:- limits are set on the amount of radiation that can be received by individuals in different occupations and by members of the public.

D) The concept of collective dose:- the total amount of radiation received by a population, rather than just the dose received by individual members of the population, should be considered.

E) The concept of effective dose:- dose equivalent calculated for the whole body taking into account the sensitivity of different organs to ionizing radiation.

F) The concept of risk coefficient:- risk of cancer or other radiation-induced diseases for a given dose of ionizing radiation.

G) The concept of dose constraints:- upper limits on radiation doses that are considered acceptable for particular situations.

H) The concept of radiation protection program:- a structured approach to ensure that the principles of justification, optimization, and dose limits are applied in practice.
